EXAMPLE Jokes and JOKE-SHORT Screenplays

Here is an example of a few jokes that flew around the world O'Email a few times this past year.

THE JOKE: A man standing in line at a check out counter of a grocery store was very surprised when a very attractive woman behind him said, "Hello!" Her face was beaming. He gave her that "who are you look," and couldn't remember ever having seen her before. Then, noticing his look, she figured she had made a mistake and apologized."Look," she said "I'm really sorry but when I first saw you, I thought you were the father of one of my children," and walked out of the store. The guy was dumbfounded and thought to himself, "What the hell is the world coming to? Here is an attractive woman who can't keep track of who fathers her children! "

Then he got a little panicky. "I don't remember her," he thought but, MAYBE....during one of the wild parties he had been to when he was in college, perhaps he did father her child!

He ran from the store and caught her in the parking lot and asked, "Are you the girl I met at a party in college and then we got really drunk and had wild crazy sex on the pool table in front of everyone?"

"No", she said with a horrified look on her face. "I'm your son's second grade teacher!"

EXAMPLE OF THE ABOVE JOKE AS A SHORT FILM SCREENPLAY:

Ext. Day. Grocery Store (any ‘store/market with a check out corner).

Int. Day.Grocery Store

Camera pans people in line to check out at counter POV mid torso. We hear the sounds of a grocery store market.

Camera discovery shot, stops on a man’s torso and rotates POV to the same MAN holding his items waiting to check out.

A Woman enters the frame touching the man and asking him a question. She is very attractive.

WOMAN:
"Hello!"

Her face was beaming.

Camera POV on Man’s face

The Man does not recognize the woman. He gives her the ‘who are you’ look.

Camera POV wide shot slow push towards Man and Woman. Angle on Woman -look around man-.

WOMAN:
"Look, I'm really sorry but when I first
saw you, I thought you were the father of
one of my children,"

Camera POV angle on MAN as woman leaves the store. Follow woman.

Camera POV ¾ shot on MAN.

The Man begins to think: --What the hell is the world coming to? Here is an attractive woman who can't keep track of who fathers her children! "

Camera ‘tighter shot on man. [fill shots of hands touching items]

The man begins to get a little panicky. He is thinking --I don't remember her but,
MAYBE....during one of the wild parties I attended when I was in college…. PERHAPS I AM THE FATHER OF HER CHILD.

CAMERA from behind counter follows Man as he puts down items and heads out of the store.

Camera on Man as he leaves store calling out for the woman.

Ext. Day outside of Grocery story/near woman's car.

MAN
“HEY…Are you the girl I met at a
party in college and then we got really
drunk and had wild crazy sex on the
pool table in front of everyone?"

Alternate camera POV on man speaking with woman and the woman looking a slowly repulsed.

Camera POV close shot on woman.

WOMAN
"No", I'm your son's second
grade teacher!"

Camera POV wide-shot of man as woman gets in car and leaves him standing alone.
[NOTE: Interestingly, this joke was the premise for a commercial that aired in the spring and early summer on national television.]

JOKE II:

A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day. Playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting, He looked up and said," Grandma, how come you don't have a Boyfriend now that Grandpa went to heaven?" Grandma replied, "Honey, my TV is my boyfriend. I can sit in my bedroom and watch it all day long. The religious programs make me feel good and the comedies make me laugh. I'm happy with my TV as my boyfriend." Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible. She started adjusting the knobs , trying to get the picture in focus. Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV hoping to fix the problem. The little boy heard the doorbell ring, so he hurried to open the door. There stood Grandma's minister. The minister said, "Hello, son, is your Grandma home?" The little boy replied, "Yep , she's in the bedroom bangin' her boyfriend."

The minister fainted.

If you have any other jokes or examples which you would like to share with your fellow film-makers/competitors please submit them as comments etc. Periodically we will place additional jokes on this blog which you may find useful.

[We have been attempting to contact television producers in order to link this concept with a television show similar to America's Funniest Videos that is also linked to YouTube. IF you have any way of helping in such an effort, please contact us so we may partner with you to make it a reality!!!]
